Following a recent bereavement, we chose a direct cremation, but David Button Funeral Directors ensured that our loved one and the whole family were treated with exactly the same care, love, dignity and respect as an attended funeral service.
We were able to provide our loved one with their own clothes, and family members had the opportunity to visit them in the chapel if they wished. These personal touches meant so much to us during an incredibly difficult time.
David and Joanna were absolutely wonderful. Their kindness, compassion and genuine care for our loved one and the whole family made a lasting impression on us.
Even though it was an unattended cremation, they still observed the traditional funeral procession, walking in front of the hearse. This simple but deeply meaningful gesture demonstrated the utmost respect and the importance of the life being honoured.
David Button offers something truly special. They show that a direct cremation doesn't have to mean a lack of personal care, dignity or meaningful farewell. Their service is about treating every person and every family as individuals, regardless of the type of funeral chosen.
We cannot thank David, Joanna and the whole team enough. They were absolutely fantastic, and we would wholeheartedly recommend David Button Independent Funeral Directors to anyone looking for a funeral director who genuinely cares. ❤️

My Mother chose a pre-paid direct cremation with David Button and I was so very pleased that she did as the care afforded to me at the time of her death by both David and Joanna was nothing short of exceptional hence my 5* rating. It was as you can imagine a really stressful and emotional time and her send off in the hearse with flowers I had picked from my garden and her old garden was incredible. I just want to say David button is absolutely amazing and all their team my mum passed away recently and they have been so kind caring and the way they looked after my mum I will forever be grateful they even dyed her hair for me she looked beautiful and they even cut some of it as I asked but they kept the hair for me which I thought was a beautiful thing to do so I will forever have that i highly recommend them from start to finish they made the most awful time in my life a bit easier and I will forever be thankful to them

David & Joanna were understanding, kind & sensitive to my needs & nothing was ever too much trouble.  They took the stress out of such a painful day, guiding us through everything with warmth, calmness & professionalism.  I knew my mother was in safe hands from our very first meeting.  They thought of every detail & I cannot thank them enough for their compassionate attitude.  Tina Hayward, Celebrant & David worked beautifully together at the service too, such a great team!  I would highly recommend Tina.  She was professional, positive, empathetic but most importantly she listened and adapted the service to what mum would have wanted. David and his team are very professional, caring, sincere and patient especially in a difficult situation where he has had to rearrange Graham’s funeral multiple times.  David and Joanne have cared for Graham, undertaken his final wishes as well as being respectful and caring towards Graham’s long-time partner at such a sad stressful time. Losing a loved one is never easy, and the unknown for saying your final goodbyes can be scary. Joanna was absolutely incredible! Since writing this accurate review, the company in my disgust has rang my 83yo mother, and requested that this honest review be taken off before the funeral, or he will be taking me and 2 others to hand on the day.  These are the words of a bully,  and also seen as threatening behavouir from a so called business owner.  Whilst everything was a head of schedule for the chapel of rest and very clean and a welcoming environment.  However, I felt the female member of the team took the attitude of an entitled person and was above answering questions about the service and funeral details as the organising person was not communicating, and towards the end of the visit was literally ignoring/refusing to engage in conversation with the deceased sister.  I found this very rude and unprofessional

We are not here to be verbally abused and be on the end of aggressive behaviour due to a family dispute that is out of our control. 

We appreciate emotions run high at such a time but we are 100% professional in everything we do.

We are/were carrying out instructions from our client who has entrusted us with the funeral of the deceased and we follow guidelines by our trade organisations to the letter.

I kindly ask you to remove this review please as we have maintained our professional standards and acted within the industry guidelines and framework.

I am sorry but we are not able to share confidential information on who is paying the for the funeral, or anything else of a confidential nature and THAT would be unprofessional.

When instructed by a client not to let certain people see a deceased in our care this is what we will do. It would have been the same had you been arranging a funeral service with us.

Please refrain from involving us with your family dispute. That's not what we are here for.

When we are instructed by a person to arrange a funeral service we always have one point of contact that we take instructions from. 

We are a professional business and we take an immense amount of pride in the work we do. We are members of three funeral trade organisations and are regularly inspected.

The word unprofessional isn't a word that describes either myself, my business or any member of my staff. 

We want to help everyone as much as we can as these moments of grief are tough for all involved. We don't wish to get involved with family politics and will avoid any confrontation. 

We were instructed and advised that certain people were not permitted to see the gentleman we had in our care. That isn't us being awkward or rude, or unprofessional, that is us, acting as we have been instructed.

Had it been yourself who had arranged the funeral and had such requests, we too would have carried out your wishes. 

We have CCTV in our office for our safety as well as those visiting us. I have watched this back and can see how you and your family's aggressive nature spiralled.

I have the CCTV footage and am happy to share this to show those reading the review what happened and how my member of staff was the victim of aggressive behaviour when she was on her own. 

It is extremely sad that you feel compelled to leave such a review and need to let you know that the business I have started from scratch has been hard work, enjoyable and a way of life for me. If you look at our previous reviews you will see just how professional and well thought of we are. Your review is factually incorrect and very slanderous in nature.

After the first telephone conversation with Joanna, meeting Gary when he collected our dear mum and then meeting David in person we knew we had made the right decision and that mum was in very safe, caring  hands. They handled every detail of my mum’s funeral with grace and respect, making an overwhelming process so much easier for us. Their genuine care throughout the whole process brought us so much comfort at such a difficult time.

All staff went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, treating us with warmth and understanding every step of the way.  Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. As others have said, I think it's difficult writing a review of a Funeral Directors, but I couldn't help myself so others know about David and his team.

Fortunately, I've only had to arrange a handful of funerals, but I couldn't imagine anyone being able to exceed the service provided by David Button Funeral Directors.

From the first (unfortunate) call to ask for their services, through to the final day, David and his team couldn't have done more to help.  They are kind, caring and professional whilst remaining compassionate.

Nothing is too much trouble, you never feel you are a burden, and by the end you know that should the inevitable happen to anyone else which you need to organise, you feel almost like David, Joanna and the team are extended family who will just take care of it for you.

It's difficult to properly put into words how strongly I recommend this business, and having dealt with a national company only a few years beforehand, they are in such a totally different league, the comparisons are pointless - David Button Funeral Directors would dominate on every metric.

Thank you once again David for your incredible service, and also thank you for checking up on me afterwards - it just shows how much they care.

David Button Funeral Directors are superb.  David himself, Joanna, Bianca and David’s wider team are truly fantastic.  Our family was so well looked after at every step of the process from taking our mum into their care through to cremation and internment..  They kept us informed without us feeling intruded upon, providing both compassion and understanding, ensuring my elderly father understood what was involved and explained carefully how costs are managed and kept sensible.  This was our family’s second service with David Button and whilst none of us want to think about it, I know it won’t be our last.  At the most difficult time of our lives, this is a lovely independent company that truly cares.  Thank you.

David was very professional but also friendly, compassionate and kind. He guided us through the process of providing a fitting tribute that was just right for us. All members of the team were lovely and really helped at this difficult time.

The most wonderful, kind, caring and supportive people you could ever wish to have helping you through the most awful time in your life.  Joanna and David at David Button Funerals were absolutely amazing, we had several hurdles to overcome and they solved each situation with calm professionalism. They kept us informed and updated every step of the way and went over and above at every point in our journey.
David Button used all local companies for flowers and sundries which was very important to us and gave an even more personal service. We were able to sit with our mum and spend as much time as we needed with her. A completely special personalised and compassionate service. We can not thank them enough for everything they have done for our Mum and all the support they gave to our family. They ensured our Mum was truly cared for and gave fantastic advise and ideas on how to celebrate our awesome mums life, giving her the best send off possible.
If I ever have to go through this situation again I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else! Thank you to Joanna and David and all your amazing staff you were exceptional! X
